- Start Easy: When you plan your runs, start with easier runs than you think you need to. If you think you can run 2km but it’ll be tough, do shorter runs with walking rest breaks to build up to that unbroken 2km run. This way once you get there, you know that 2km will be doable for sure.
- Warm-up: Many people don’t get warm before a run. Make sure your hips, upper/lower legs, and core are ready for the constant work that will be done. Take 5-10 minutes to do a few light exercises to get the major muscles warm.
- Shoes: Have a proper pair of running shoes that fit correctly. Also if you have any kind of foot issue, have a specialist access and recommend a shoe.
- Have Fun: Most importantly, we do exercise for our enjoyment and well being. Make sure your runs are sustainable and fun.
Running can be an awesome form of exercise and is easily accessible for most people. Just like any form of exercise, keep it fun and don’t forget to do your warm-ups
